  1. Back Squat x3, 88-132-142-147F-88

142 is new PR by 10#:-)

    • Nice work!!

    • Moving on up…gr8 job Meeks!
Even with that knee thing that was going on ;-)

      • I need HQ to grant me several days of easy on the knee activities to see if I can get them to turn the volume back down on the popping:-)

  2. Something has gone wrong with my back (again), so I’m taking a rest today. It’s amazing, by the way, how quickly the advice comes flying at a person when her back goes out. One friend is suggesting an MRI. I’d really prefer not to …
    :(

    • Came in at noon and did a slow 500 row, some stretching, rolling, another slow 1,000 row, more rolling, then ice. I feel better! Maybe tomorrow I’ll be ready for a workout. We’ll see.

      • glad to hear it!

      • Glad to hear you feel somewhat better and VERY glad to hear you are still moving regardless of how slowly.

      • Ha! I guess Terri has “slowed her roll” :)

        • Ha! Could be nature’s way of telling me to slow my roll. I do tend to get overly excited about things.

  3. First back squats in a long time:
    154 x 3 – 176 x 2 – 169 x 2

Disappointed with my back squats so Damon suggested a few sets of pause squats (3 second pause at bottom before standing):
    132 x 4 – 132 x 3 – 120 x 4

Feel like I’ve backslid a little but it felt good to practice these.

  4. BTW, this is pretty pathetic — the Army’s getting rid of sit-ups and long runs because their new recruits can’t do them. “What we were finding was that the soldiers we’re getting in today’s Army are not in as good shape as they used to be,” said Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling… “We know kids today are less fit,” Mr. Palkoska said. “We have to adjust.”:

    • UGG!!

  5. Today I made up both Saturday and Yesterday’s wods. I began with yesterday’s turkish get ups and sotts press. My time was 19:_ _ , can’t remember, maybe 19:34? I know it was just under 20 minutes with a 45lb barbell.

Then I immediately turned around and did Saturday’s fun wod:

    21-18-15-12-9-6-3
    SDHP (77#)
    Push Jerk

My time was 8:16. I’m feeling better. Haven’t been feeling myself lately, but it was nice to really sweat on both of those wods.

Its good to see more people coming at 5:30am. It makes the workouts that much more appealing.

    • Might have a couple more before the week’s done Dude…I’m digging it too.
BTW, kinda sick seeing you snuggle those two WODs!!

  6. So today’s the last day of August and maybe not too soon to ask about the Growlery “trial basis/experiment.” Will there be any different hours for September? I’d like to try it but my arm’s not 100% yet. (although Dr wants me to work out!) I also enjoy coming in the morning. . .

    • Well, I think that the trial/experiment is a resounding success! …or maybe that’s just me…ha! ;)

The noon, 5pm and 6pm have done well, and I would like to expand into a morning session. If I can, what time, and how many a week I will be able to do will be based on my ability to find a nanny/sitter…I will keep you posted!

      • Resounding success!! Yes!!! :D

      • Yes, I agree, a great success!
Unfortunately, mornings are hard for me as my older son does not get on his bus until 8 am and I have to drop the younger one at his school by 7:15…which makes coming to the gym in the morning nearly impossible. But I’d love to have Joy in the mix!

  7. Had a really nice time this morning- the weather was great, the company was pleasant, and the workout was not too bad. I have decided I like Turkish get ups. 16:33 with 20 pound db for get ups and 22 pound bar for presses. See everyone in a few weeks- I am off to Germany and Italy for a little over a week and then taking some time off.

    • Turkish get ups remind me of Turkish coffee, which is delicious.

    • Dang, you always get to travel to the coolest places… ;)

  8. Growlery
    Purred
Clean and Jerks- 65#, 11 reps
    AMRAP- 4 rounds + 1 T2B

  9. Growlery
    Clean & Jerks Rx (115#), 11 reps
    AMRAP 10 Toes to bar/10 burpees – 4 rounds + 4 T2B

  10. Growlery

    Clean & jerks, 115#, 10 reps in 3 minutes

    6 min AMRAP (10 KTE & 10 burpees)
    Subbed KTE for T2B
    3 rounds even

During warmup, I practiced the rope climb and was actually able to set my feet and “stand up” on the rope. I really surprised myself. Yay!

    • Fun!!
