yay! I’ve been waiting for her!
Hahaha! Scott, you are perhaps the only person that has ever cheered to see Fran!
It’s been 22 months since I’ve done an RX fran, I’m just excited to see my time:) I’m going to hate her very quickly I’m sure!
You did awesome!
Good job today Scott.
Can’t bear the thought of another legs workout today, after the lunges and the 5k. I’m asking Dr. Sadri on Tuesday if I can have my arm back. Wish me luck.
7:44 PR
new black band for pullups.
Nice time, Pat!!!
55 lb thrusters
9:03 PR
first time doing fran. i was nervous with anticipation! glad to have finished and then getting to cheer everyone on. it was great to see everyone just laying it out there.
rx-8:42
Thanks for the cheering, Terresa — it kept me going!
Fun working with you…you rock with the bar, it really kept me on pace too.
great working out with you too therese!
As Rx’d
4:00 PR
First round of thrusters and pull-ups unbroken. Broke up pull-ups A LOT after that; surprised I was able to PR by 16 seconds today. I will have to compare the videos from last time and today to see where the improvements were.
That’s an amazing time, Laura! I can’t imagine getting that fast on Fran.
OK…in analyzing the videos:
Round 1 was 7 seconds faster; savings were both in exercise and transition time, but 5 seconds was in transition time alone.
Round 2 was 12 seconds faster; savings were both in exercise and transition, but 9 seconds was in transition time alone. *NOTE: even though I broke up my pull-ups a lot more today, I spent less time resting, so I ended up saving a second anyway.
Round 3 was 2 seconds SLOWER; thrusters and transition were 4 seconds longer, but I saved 2 seconds on the pull-ups.
I’m off by a second somewhere (it was a 16 second PR, not 17 seconds), but I’m not going to look for it. Moral of the story is JUST MOVE FASTER AND REST LESS.
Amazing work and good insight on the transition time.
Also, thanks for your encouraging words to me. It is something that I know I need to keep working on.

49# Thrusters, Tiny+Tiny Pull-Ups
Well, I learned not to eat breakfast before an intense workout like this from now on. By midway I was feeling kind of queasy.
First time with Fran:
8:39
Yeah, before the first group went, Laura brought out the trash can…it was not what I wanted to see
Good job though!
The first time I did this wod, I was still new to CF so I was looking forward to this as a benchmark. I felt good coming in this morning.
Rx – 4:18 (PR by almost 4 minutes)
First round unbroken and last round of pull-ups unbroken. I know I can reduce this time. Need to break up middle round into two groups instead of three.
Looked at video. My transitions were kind of slow and breaks need to be short & upright to gain time.
That’s both an amazing time and huge PR! Great job! Next time I will bet you hit 3:30.
It took me about 45 minutes to get off the floor after my 4:50 Minute Fran. That’s just funny – and the new guy coming in to ask about CrossFit either will be scared away or very interested in it!
So, PR’d by more than 2 and a half minutes (Feb 2008). Taking Laura’s advice, I’m going to detail out what I remember so I can shave more time off next time.
Finished set 1 unbroken on both thrusters and pullups – so those felt pretty good.
Set 2 – did 8 thrusters, then I think I did 7 (or maybe 6 and 2, cannot remember). Pullups in 2 or 3 sets
Set 3 – definitely can improve the thrusters, and pull ups…
I see plenty of opportunity to improve this time. Bring her on again soon! I want a sub-4 Fran on the next go-round.
First time rx Fran – 9:16
really need to work on breathing and getting multiple pull ups
Another frustrating “Fran”. Thrusters are finally feeling strong, but now these heavy ass pull ups are becoming a serious problem for me.
As Rx- 9:15 (1:32 slower than last year)
Great job to everyone that came in today. Especially those that had the first date with “Fran”!
Great work guys! Wished we could’ve made it in today, but we couldnt. we both plan on FRANning sometime this week, if not tomorrow.
11:34 55lbs, red band. Minute and a half PR.
First time doing Fran as RX. 21 and 9 of pull-ups were unbroken, 15 I broke up 8/7. Just need to keep working on my strength so 65# in these multiple rep workouts doesn’t kill me. I’m happy with the fact that I added weight by going rx and got a 2 minute pr from last time!
10:12
That’s awesome! Congrats on doing this Rx’d *and* faster! I just took my baby steps with this one today.
13:34 – my first Fran. 44lbs and black band for pullups. After doing it, all ya’lls times are *really* impressive to me now.
55# 10:48
FRAN Rx- 4:09. That’s 7 seconds off my best. Felt real slow arriving to the gym, so it’s no wonder it was slower than the last time I did it. I am going to video tape my benchmark wods from now on. All in all, at least it’s not 7 minutes off my best.
10:30. Black band. Baby bar plus 10 pounds.
7:27
16:33 – damon was telling me to go for under 12 min, but Rx weight is just so much more effort for me right now. pull-ups no problem, thrusters suck.
