  1. Cool shirt!! Alternate workout of 5 rounds 400m run and 25 abmat sit ups. 17:41. Running sucks quite a bit less in this weather. I’m glad to be back on a morning schedule. :D

    • Awesome time, Terri! Good to see you in the mornings. : )

  2. Had to push really hard to keep up with Erica today and it shows in my time — Thanks for getting us on the board, Erica!

10:29 PR (2:42 faster than in April!)

    • impressive mike!

  3. “Helen” was the workout I did on my first day of crossfit July 21st. I went from green + tiny bands to blue + tiny today. Stuck with 25Lb kettlebell. Improved time by 3:62. Time today was 14:46.

  4. 14:35 with Rx kettlebell and assisted pullups (blue+tiny)

  5. 11:21 Rx

PR of almost a minute. Last time I did Helen, I did it outside in 90-some degrees. I agree with Terri, this morning’s temp is much more conducive to running :)

  6. warmed up with a 400m run and my foot’s still not cooperating so i subbed 500m row instead. would like to have run this one.

mac called this helen in a boat.

    14:27

    terri-2 mornings in a row!

    • I’m BACK!! Yay!

  7. I was pushing to keep up with you as well, Mike! That’s the only reason this was a PR for me. So exciting to make the board! Fun working out with you and Pat. I LOVE this weather. It makes me so happy.

10:02 RX (PR by 5 seconds)

  8. 17:20. 35lbs. Tiny band for round one then red band for last two.
Off to Houston where I will lose even more pull up strength. See you next week.

    • Great job! Have a good trip!

  9. 9:30 Rx, I definitely can see areas for increased efficiency and speed. My 2nd set of pullups were broke at 10/2 and the 3rd were 6/3/3. The KB swings I think were only broke on the last set, for just a second.

Fun fun. Short and painful. Just like I like them;)

  10. Great work today, everyone! I always enjoy my evenings. Felt great on this wod. Thrilled that the kettlebell swings were unbroken. Time: 8:33
PR by 0:30 (NOT A FOUL!)

    • wow, we called that one.. Laura and I said you’d get about 8:30.:) Speed demon!

  11. Because I know my runs will probably not get much faster (I hate running!), I figured the only way I can improve my time is by finally getting all my pull-ups unbroken. I never break the kettle swings, but pull-ups are always broken in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, which costs time. I didn’t succeed in all unbroken pull-ups today (had to break the final round (6/3/3), but I eked out a PR nonetheless…guess my running did get a little faster?

    rx’d
8:53 PR (31 seconds faster than last time)

    • note to self: in watching today’s and my previous Helen videos, I noticed my swings were much higher today. I almost don’t even want to count my swings from last time…yuck.

      • In timing out the videos, comparing last time to this time:

runs were almost exact; only a few seconds of difference
swings were almost exact; only a few seconds of difference

The sole reason for the PR is not breaking the second set of pull-ups (saved 15 seconds) and breaking them up less on the third set (saved 16 seconds).

      • It’s probably from the Qualifiers…remember how they were so specific about being able to see your ears on the kettlebell swings or it didn’t count…maybe that’s why they are so high! haha

    • So 31 seconds counts as an eeked out PR? In my world on a short WOD like this, a 31 second PR is a large PR.

      • Hahaha! Then talk to La Mar about his 3 MINUTE PR!

  12. Rx – 8:00 (PR by 3 minutes)

It helps to have a good workout partner (Zeke). All KB swings were unbroken and last set of pull-ups were 6/6. My lungs were on FIYAH after this workout…took some time to settle back down to normal.

    • I agree. MY lungs are still burning and it’s Thursday morning. You were incredible on that wod. Nice work!

  13. I managed to not break up the kettlebells or the pull-ups today. Although, my first round of pull-ups I couldn’t find my rhythm till around 7 or so…my kip was all off and I wasn’t stringing them together very well. Felt disconnected. Got back on rhythm after 7 though. Probably lost a bit of time from that and my running could be faster…Kelly was flyin ahead of me!

As Rx, 10:20 (last time I did this wod was in March and it was around 14 min…so I am happy to have a solid pr!)

    • *Huge* PR!

    • I knew I should have hidden all of the kettlebells…lol!
      Great job!

  14. Crossfit + sick = burning lungs and vomit in the toilet upon arrival to mi casa! Ouch and eww….It really hurt and I felt especially weak today, as have I for the past 3 weeks. Nice work to Amardhfvbhbinthia…she really seemed to be booking it! felt too bad to stay and congratulate, but it seemed like everyone had a PR today so great work. I PR’d by 42 seconds regardless…8:55 (feel like I can do better)

  15. Back in April I used a red band and tiny for pull ups and did it in 15:10.

Today – Did it RX and got 12:32!! I need to work on pull ups, but they have come along way. Plus my run the last round was tough.

    • Grrrr, no bands…Great accomplishment Bryan!

  16. RX- 13:56

  17. Did this on 10/2

  20. [...] OK, I’m officially over benchmarks. I have avoided the REAL Helen since September of 2009. I have since done rowing Helen, db push press Helen…all kinds of variants; but not the real [...]
