“Did Humans Evolve to Be Long-Distance Runners?”
Mark’s Daily Apple discusses the evidence that we most likely evolved to be excellent slow movers (walk, jog, migrate, forage, etc.), and pretty decent short sprinters, but that we were NOT designed to run long distances. I encourage you to not just take Mark’s word for it. Read it for yourself – you might start looking at running a whole different way.

Due to the length of this workout, the last clock starts promptly at 6:15pm – please be ready to hit this one on time.
Laura, I’m sick and couldn’t make it in today. How sad is that when the filthy 50 comes up!
Good luck and kick butt!
Oooh, that was ugly.
Filthy 50 but dropped down to 14lb wall ball and did 200 single unders
33:40
I won’t be able to make it today–I’m hoping this will still be available Monday. See ya’ll in J’ville!
I’ll be in this afternoon to do deadlifts. I’m not up to getting filthy today. Mike: That is an AWESOME time!
Laura & Damon MADE ME do the Filthy Fifty. Horrors! But now I’m glad because I beat my previous time by 20:18!! Modifications: jumped on a 13″ stack of plates (stepped on the red box last time); burpees with knees; 200 singles.
Time = 42:32.
Hello beautiful three days of rest.
Also: 35# kb + 10# wall ball; red bar for push press
WAY TO GO, TERRI!!!
What could be worse than showing up for deadlifts and getting stuck with the Filthy 50? And then cutting your time by over 20 minutes?!? That’s amazing!
Come do the o-dark-hundred Boot Camp with me tomorrow! I promised Judy I’ll show this time.
Thanks for the props!
As for 5:30 a.m. boot camp: No thanks not this time. I’m sleeping in (till 6:30 or so). Maybe another day. Let me know how it goes!
Terri, congratulations! I remember your last time doing this workout…how cool is it that you shaved 20 minutes!!
Broke 30 as mildly suggested by Damon…
28:44
When I left this morning, Laura looked like she was ready to eat nails…look out Jacksonville.
that was a tough one….
35:36 with knee pushups for the burpees. i would like to get better at knees to elbows and wall balls.
in my quest to improve at pullups, i got 3 today
Congrats T -and LaMar – a sub 30 just sounds like a major head ache – I mean rush – to me !
Morning RX’ers – Friday (tomorrow) come out and play with us @ Agnes Scott tennis courts @ 5:45 am – off McDonough St. It is our off morning for boot camp and we have a new routine that we would love to have you run through ….. Terri – Rad – Joel (where have YOU been)?
Mike and Terrrrrrrible T and Nanci are in
Hey Judy, are we still on if it’s raining?
judy, i may have to take a rain check on this one. please don’t hate me!
43:08 (which is 43 minutes and 8 seconds, although it felt more like 43 days and 8 hours)
25 lb kettlebell, 20 in. box, 10 lb wall ball, 200 singles (must learn to do double unders!)
When it was all over, Damon said oops, I should have only done 30 of each since it was my 1st time. He knew he was safe; I was too tired to open a can of whoop ass.
Best wishes to Laura. I know you’ll do great. It will all be over and done very soon!
RX: 40:00
Knees to elbows and burpees need work
34:46
used womens bar for push press and single jump rope. I couldn’t get any kind of rhythm with wall balls and need to work on burpees too.
Here in Jacksonville and ready to start the competition bright and early at 8:30am. I will be cheering extra hard for everyone while I am here watching our coach kick ass!
