I’m taking the rest day today (woohoo, no having to get up at 5:30). But I hit a new low on the scale this morning at 243. 12 pounds down, 43 to go.
FAIL hahaha!!
Speaking of brain-body stuff & fail — the other night when we were doing max-DLs, we got done, and Dr.D told us to do another rep. He said you should never end on a “fail” because it conditions your brain to associate that with how you “finish”. He said it had to do with neuro-programming or something, that you should drop down in weight and do a successful rep. That made sense to me. My brain is retarded, it doesn’t take much to brainwash it in the wrong direction — I need all the help I can get for reprogramming LOL.
I am going to try that next time for max rep. My brain needs help too. How much do you drop down in weight after the “fails”, just enough to at least get the rep that moment?
Great idea, Kath! I actually did that when the max deads came up last week…I failed around rep 5, dropped a bit then failed again on 6, then took another chunk of weight off so I could make a successful final lift. As for the “how much,” KBA, I would say that there’s no right answer; you have to make the decision based on your ability and your performance that day.
