  1. Woo-hoo! Keep ‘em comin’!

  2. We know you’re just jealous! ;)

Actually, because we’ve had three pretty darn short WODs in a row, I’m gonna predict some long huffers for next cycle…maybe “Murph” will be waiting for you when you get back in the ATL…?

  3. Huh. Not sure I would have chosen “jealous”. Thrilled, maybe. Or perhaps thankful. Not jealous. And I fear no long huffer because of a) my personal 60 minute mercy rule, b) the likelyhood of my dropping dead if I come back after a week of eating and handwork and really go balls to the wall, and c) the fact that I am a shiny ray of sunlight in your gym.

Have a great day! I shall be knitting.

  4. I think today was my 10th “Michael.” Since I have always done this workout with GHD sit-ups, I wanted to see what my time would be if I did anchored AbMat sit-ups instead. Not as much of a time difference as I would have liked; I’m pretty proficient with GHD work, and using the AbMat only shaved two minutes off my PR with GHD sit-ups (22:46).

Outside runs (too many turnarounds; new route next time)
    GHD extensions; anchored AbMat sit-ups
    20:45

  6. a-HEM. Having listened to many a lecture on the word “only” and knowing what your reaction to a client who said they “only” beat a PR by two minutes, I will refrain from commenting further. But I am thinking snide thoughts….

  7. Now, Mary…I beat a PR for what can be defined as a different workout. My PR for Michael with GHD situps can really only be compared to all my other Michaels done with GHD situps. My decision to use anchored AbMat situps today was to experiment and see what kind of a time difference it would make. Most people have a great discrepancy between GHD and AbMat situp times, but I knew it wouldn’t make a 10 minute chunk of time for me. However, I did hope that it would make a more significant time savings than 2 minutes. Now that I see it is “only” a 2 minute “PR,” I will go back to doing GHD situps with a goal of matching the time I made today.

  8. I say again, aHEM. Hoping for “a more significant time savings” does not diminish the savings you achieved. You may say “only” only so long as “only” stays inside quotation marks.

  9. It’s still a different workout, and not directly comparable. Now that you are getting me to examine my statements more closely, I don’t think it is possible to do GHD situps at the same speed as an anchored AbMat situp because of the distance traveled. I guess I need to change my previous wording and eliminate “discrepancy,” “time savings,” etc.

LOL! Don’t try and argue with a Professor! ;)
