  1. The article link above is from CrossFit HQ today. Rest days are often used as a forum for political and/or scientific discussion; you may be resting your body, but it can be a good day to exercise your mind.

Coach Glassman, aka Greg Glassman, the founder of CrossFit and most often referred to simply as “Coach,” posted a comment on HQ today regarding his take on the article:

The WSJ and “experts” are asking “Who is the world’s greatest athlete?” Our question would be “What physical trait(s) best lend themselves to human performance, i.e., who is fittest?” Their question led to some muddled and weakly defined parameters. Ours distills to measuring and training for maximum work capacity across broad time and modal domains. We’re doing exercise science; the others are competing superheros. The difference in approaches is what explains our ascendancy and dominance in athletic training. I couldn’t be happier with our market and technical position.

It’s interesting that we coached WSJ author Reed Albergotti through a lot of material and he left us out. We knew from some earlier contact and his responses that we were unduly taxing his faculties.
